I think the first Lintott book had this design, and both Jenny and I have made it at least once. I have a second one started (red/white/blue).

That's a great old pattern. It's interesting how using modern fabrics can update a look.
I don't know how the advertisers pay. I get stuff from Google all the time with free $100 credits to advertise. I don't have anything to advertise so I haven't looked into it. I would imagine it would have to do with how much advertising someone wants to buy at a time.
